Wood & Finish Options

Every table begins with the wood. Choose your species, then your finish — each combination produces a distinct character that ages beautifully for generations.

SPECIES

Black Walnut

Rich chocolate-brown hardwood with dramatic grain patterns. One of North America’s most prized furniture woods — naturally dark, heavy, and deeply characterful.

Clear Finish

Rubio Monocoat hard wax oil. Enhances the natural walnut tone while protecting the surface. The grain and color remain true.

Rubio Black

Deep carbon black over walnut. The grain disappears into darkness — a surface that reads almost like stone.

SPECIES

Hard Maple

Creamy, pale hardwood with fine consistent grain. Dense, durable, and exceptionally smooth. Finished in clear polyurethane.

Clear Poly

Satin clear polyurethane — the only finish we offer in maple. Its pale color and tight grain work beautifully with a simple protective coat.

SPECIES

Red Oak

Bold, open grain with warm pink-brown tones. Available in natural or dramatically stained options.

Clear Finish

Rubio Monocoat. The warm pink undertones of Red Oak come forward — honest and beautiful.

Jet Black

Ebonized stain with hard wax top coat. The grain reads through the black — bold and modern.

SPECIES

White Oak

Our most versatile species. Tighter grain than Red Oak, warmer than Maple. Available in four finishes.

Cotton White

Rubio Monocoat Cotton White. Bleached, Scandinavian-style — pale and airy.

Rubio Black

Rubio Natural

Rubio Monocoat Natural. Slightly warmer than clear — enhances natural character without changing color.

About Rubio Monocoat

All our finishes (except Hard Maple) use Rubio Monocoat hard wax oil — a Belgian-engineered finish that bonds molecularly to wood fibers. Food-safe, repairable, and produces a matte sheen that reveals the true nature of the wood.

Hard Maple Exception

Hard Maple is finished in satin clear polyurethane. Its tight grain and pale color work better with this protective coat. All other species use Rubio Monocoat.
