How To Care For Your Handmade Furniture

At Fargo Woodworks, we take pride in creating beautiful, high-quality furniture that will last for years to come. In order to keep your furniture looking its best, it's important to properly care for it. Here are 10 tips on how to do just that.

  1. Use placemats or coasters to prevent spills.
  2. Wipe spills right away to prevent damage.
  3. Use a microfiber cloth or tack cloth for dusting.
  4. For a deep clean, use a warm damp microfiber cloth. You can spray a wood soap such as Murphy's Oil or Rubio Soap onto the cloth if you feel like it needs a deeper clean.
  5. Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaning products on your furniture as they can damage the finish.
  6. In humid climates, avoid placing furniture directly against an exterior wall to prevent moisture damage and in dry climates, consider using a humidifier in the room where the furniture is located to prevent the wood from drying out and cracking.
  7. If you have animals, keep their nails trimmed and their claws filed down to prevent scratching of the finish.

8.If you have small children, place felt pads on the legs of chairs and the table to prevent scratching of floors when moving furniture around.

  1. Be sure to keep sharp objects away from the furniture as they can scratch or dent the surface.
  2. Finally, enjoy your beautiful handmade furniture! It is meant to be used and enjoyed for many years to come!

By following these simple tips, you can keep your handmade furniture looking beautiful for years to come. Do you have any questions about caring for your furniture? Feel free to reach out to us and we'll be happy to help. Thanks for choosing Fargo Woodworks!
